Has anyone investigated this one?

Looks very take-my-money, but:
  • the ad is in ALL CAPS (danger, Will Robinson)
  • photos appear to have been taken on a dealer lot, ad fournd in 'owner' section (scumbaggery?)
  • no photos of undercarriage (sure, I could have asked, but a Mud investigation is more funner)
  • Unusual (to me) 'dealer not found' delivery and early childhood (see image)
  • Probably dealer-used vehicle, yes?
For your reference:
  • VIN: JTMHY7AJ8D4010348
  • Lifetime miles/month based on date of first use and today's date: 1,046 (low)
  • $0.59/mile cost (pretty good for the age and mods)
Maybe I'm too paranoid, but I'm getting these feels.

Thoughts?

The phone number in photo 17 is for Kendall Toyota of Bend. According to VehicleHistory.com, this rig was for sale there until at least April for $69,992 (though I've occasionally seen that figure be incorrect).

This truck has been punted around multiple times for months. I've seen it pop up at least 2 dealers for wildly different prices including the $69k ask. Usually when a vehicle like this floats around for a while without selling, there is a reason. Years ago I had booked a ticket for a "smoking deal" built 200, and at the last minute I pulled the service history and saw rodents had chewed the wiring harness. Twice. Price was at least $10k market already, and it kept disappearing and reappearing for a lower price. No idea what's going on with this one, but I'd personally stay away - especially since the price isn't great considering the unknown history.

I bought it for $45k offer. Great rig. The guy bought it new and drove it to Portland and back. Never seen the dirt. I crawled under it and not a drop of oil anywhere or not a dent or scratch under it. They did back into something and cracked the tail light. He spent $31k on top of the line overland package last winter. No expense was spared. Then his wife told him to get a new one so he did and did the same exact package. Super meticulous maintenance done. Even changed the differential oil twice already. Great guy, very friendly! I drove it back 200+ miles from bend and it’s sweet! Been driving a couple weeks now and no problems found.

I will give this rig the life that it dreamt of, drive her properly, and take her all the places she wants to go.

in case anyone wondered.

Seems like a great deal. Curious how you were able to get it for $25k under ask - how did the conversation go?! Most dealers won't seem to budge a dollar off their 200 series prices as evidenced by a couple that I've seen (overpriced) still on the market at the same price for 3+ months.

He had the dealer try to sell it for 69k. It didn’t sell I saw it on Craigslist. Nobody else offered better or went and looked or made any serious offer. I drove 4 hours to go look at it. It was listed at $48,500.00 38k is the blue book for that many miles in excellent shape. It had everything done to it that I would have done anyways so wth?
