It has a broken crankshaft. It has had a frame-off restoration since I owned it. The owner didnt feel like dealing with it, so he contacted me and asked if I wanted to buy it back after months of trying to find it. Of course after seeing it and the amount of work he out into it….I said yes.
Now, the question. Re-build the existing motor, or buy a rebuilt ‘87 2F long block from a. Very reputable Cruiser tech for $5k. If that is the case, I will have to pull off the flywheel, harmonic balancer, distributor, valve cover, fuel pump, rocker arms, manifold. It is basically a long block with sheet metal covers installed.
The rebuilt engine comes with new water pump, oil pump, new camshaft & cam bearings, new con rod & main bearings, reman head. New pistons & rings. Of course its had a paint job. David Benke seems to think he can rebuild the existing 2F.
Thoughts and opinions?
