I FINALLY got the old 40 out for some wheeling. A friend of a friend has 300 or so acres just outside of Springfield with a decient # of trails. Lots of woods, slick climbs, etc. Everything was pretty sloppy Saturday night with all the rain we had gotten. Add to that I was one of the only rigs out there without a locker ( my wifes XJ being the other one) which made for some interesting climbing. It was kindof fun keeping up with them and seeing their faces as I made the same obstacles as them in fewer tries. The 40 is a TANK!!! I used a little more throttle than I like to when wheeling (Maybe it was going to the XRRA finals in CO Springs sub-consciously making me do it) but I made every obstacle except 1. There was a steep climb with a ledge at the top that I gave it hell to make. Doing wheelstands at the top was a blast. I couldn't believe how stable the truck felt. I didn't get a single pic of wheeling all night, but here is one of the aftermath:
Tore up the fender, creased the body behind the fender, broken mirror, antenna dead, and the paint is very tattood, but all in all a great time.
The owner was waay cool and I'm sure he'd have no problem with some new people coming out next time. Let me know if ur interested.
