I want to know if the 2008 fortuner's suspension is the same with any of the 4runner suspensions? I want to put a proper lift on it so I can keep running my 275/R75X16's.
My problem is just the front wheels now (after blocking the front 2") dont take corners too well (wrong scrub angle).
I travel much on pavement, but have used this fortuner for some mild trail riding...
I am in the Philippines and have taken this fortuners from Manila to Davao on different trips and they're excellent vehicles.
In my organization I have the 2 models, 2.7L 4x2 and 3.0L 4x4 with auto trans. the one I use all the time now is the 4x4.

I have never heard of a fortuner. and that alingment slang you use is not used in the states. I have no idea what you are talkin about. there is toe, camber and caster.

you will have to call the dealer. and just a random question... Do you have a DEATH WISH???!!!! get those blocks out of there before you kill yourself and some one else. And they call us stupid in the south...

The fortuner is kind of like a 4runner only a little more crossover like than truck like. Is not available in the US. It is made on the Taco/4Runner chassis and available with the standard gas eingines as well as diesels in 2wd and 4wd. I'm not sure if the suspension is the same though.

The fortuner is not made on the same chassis as any of the US market trucks, it's made over a hilux platform so if you do not find suspension kits for fortuners where you're at try hilux.

I don't really know what you mean by blocking the front but in any case there should not be any blocks on a IFS truck's suspension, try getting a kit from ARB, Iron Man or something similar.

I believe what he means by "blocking the front", is that he has installed 2" coil spacers.

Did you get an alignment done after installing the spacers?

I don't know about the fortuner suspension, but coil spacers are an acceptable cheaper alternative to a full suspension lift on IFS vehicles like the Tacoma and 4 Runner. Are they Ideal? No. I have ran a 1-1/2" coil spacer in my 95.5 Tacoma to clear 32x11.5x15 BFG ATs for years, and it has been fine. It is daily driven for MANY miles, but with a proper alignment it handles great. It does make for a slightly rougher ride though. A 2" spacer may be a bit more than can be adjusted for by the fortuner suspension, so you may have to deal with it.

If the fortuner is based off the Hilux platform, then there may be an adjustable coilover suspension availible for it. But it may also be something that you'd have to experiment with if it is not designed for the fortuner specifically. You would have to look at the mounting, take measurments at full compression and full droop, and basically see if there is something available that will work.

I'm currently looking at a Fortuner - can't find the right Cruiser - but Fortuners are all over the place where I am so...

As stated above, the Fortuner rides on the Hilux chasis/frame. Local kits that may be similar to what you're running raise the suspension 40 mm without a full rebuild - beyond that and the geometry goes a bit wacky. However the preferred 'budget' option involves new coils and shocks up front plus slightly firmer rear leafs. This runs about 40000 baht +/- depending on the brand that you choose. If your suspension/alignment shop can't work something out, let me know and I will call around for specs when I make it back into town.
