Forgive My Ignorance... 5 Speed vs 4 Speed

About the only thing I can find wrong with the 5- speed is that the 3-4 gap is significantly taller.
And if you're using it as a city cruiser that has stoplights on 35- 40 mph roads, that could be a pain.
The 4- speed ratios are good in town- the problem is that there isn't an overdrive.

I got stupid lucky last winter, and found one in the junkyard. It cost less than the xfer case.
Otherwise, I'd have stuck with the 4- speed....

I had a four speed and upgraded to a five. Its great on the highway and having a V8 makes it a pleasure. If you still have the I-6 and live in the flat lands go for it. If you live out West where it is uphill in both directions; keep the 4 speed.
