Forestry Announcment today

Just a heads up for everyone...
Was up at Loon Lake this past week.
Had a few conversations with the Forestry guys... there is some serious talk about closing ALL forests in BC until further notice because of the threat of fires. Had 2 people started fires... good thing I carry my fire extinguisher with me on the trail. The fire department is patrolling regularly up there.
The announcement is supposed to be today sometime.

They'd do better to close highways. Was talking with a volunteer of the Princeton fire dept today who says they have been constantly chasing down highway fires started by cig buts. So far they have only lost one which got up the hillside before they could get on it. They whole area is a haze of smoke from all the fires.

I hope we get a few days of hard rain soon.

Cig butts and charred motor homes.

Region 3 is now under 'informal restriction' on backcountry travel. Only a couple coastal areas restricted so far:

Open Fire Bans - Wildfire Management Branch - Ministry of Forests and Range - Province of British Columbia

Cooler weather and a few showers might help keep things open. Doesn't look like heavy rain for a while though.

You saw that toasted motorhome outside of Hope, eh? The week before there must of been another one as there was a nasty burn mark on the Slide Hill...

"Sure honey were loaded way over max but this baby can still do 110 up the hill!" ... People never cease to amaze me.

Saw the one in Hope heading out early Friday morning and its twin coming back over Paulsson summit on the Christina Lake side on Monday.

Lots of late model model pickups with 5th wheels and open hoods on the passes, looked like expensive mistakes all around.
