If this is still on the to do list, the original Aisin clutches are the best. If the unit on the rig is an Aisin and the bearing is good, spins smoothly, simply changing the fluid in it will restore it to original or better performance depending on the viscosity of the fluid used.
Thanks, for the background info Tools R Us. I replaced the fan clutch with another Aisin. Yep bearing is good and yep will change fluid and use on my other 2F I borrowed the first one from. Once I had the front end of the truck off, and belt loosened, it was obvious the fan clutch wasn't doing it's thing.
All the stuff I listed is already done. The truck is engine is running cool as a cucumber, and accelerates smooth through 3500 rpm. Compression pretty decent considering milage. 120-130ish. Ignition working fine with one bad wire replaced and reset timing to 6 deg BTDC. Plugs look good. Carb working fine. I took air horn off and cleaned all circuits with compressed air and carb cleaner. I did find a cracked wire on the fuel cut solenoid that i taped off. Re-usable fuel filter was clogged. I cleaned and it clogged again. I replaced it.
The driveline vibez above 40mph are what i'm tracking down now. I had all wheels balanced and alignment done. Rear axle seal leaking on the side of the snapped axle (driver side). When I had the drive shaft off, the pinion companion flange didn't wobble, but had no preload to speak of and quite a bit of play. The driveline is now extened and balanced with good u joints. I still have a little bit of vibration. I am looking toward 3rd member given the trauma it suffered. It could be wobble in transfer case output shaft too, but that didn't feel too bad. I'll fix the axle then see where I'm at.
