[FONT=&quot]Current Condition / Why I’m Selling It:[/FONT][FONT=&quot] Unlike a gas FJ-42, this 5 speed manual transmission BJ-42 uses a diesel (3B) motor and two 12 volt batteries in series making it a 24 volt system. It is a rare truck and originally not available for sale in the U.S. Partially restored to include a killer Toyota Mystic Purple paint job (the truck was originally red), it was in great condition when I imported it from Canada. My goal was to have it restored to show room new from the frame up. The business I hired went out of business before completing the job and I no longer have the resources to do it myself. [/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]What’s Been Done: [/FONT][FONT=&quot]The truck has been stripped down to a rolling chassis with the engine and transmission and steering intact. The rear quarter panels, wheel walls, bed, and sill have all been replaced with heavy duty stamped steel body panels from a Canadian parts provider (http://www.4wheelauto.com). (These panels are thicker than panels available in the U.S.) Pretty much everything has been removed from the body e.g. fenders, steps, passenger doors, ambulance doors, roof, rear seats, between seat console and rear heater, gas tank, gas tank filler tube, dash board pads, all gauges and switches, heater, mats, shifters, vents, glove box, hard top, hood, grill, engine cowlings, roll bar, exhaust system, fuel lines, wiring harness, etc. It has a new clutch and a new (not remanufactured) 24 volt alternator. All of the switches on the front dash, shifter knobs, ash tray, passenger door panels and window lift assemblies and brake master cylinder are new. Radiator is new. I replaced the steel hood hinges with stainless steel. [/FONT]

• [FONT=&quot]The Truck. [/FONT][FONT=&quot]Including all the parts that have been taken off of it (above). A lot of the disassembled components have “parts bag” containing the nuts and bolts needed to re-install that component. The 3B diesel engine and transmission worked perfectly when I delivered the truck to the shop. I imported it from British Columbia, Canada and drove it to the east coast without a single problem.[/FONT]
• [FONT=&quot]New Parts. [/FONT][FONT=&quot]Thisis where the deal gets crazy good. In addition to the body panels (about $2000), I purchased about $5500.00 of other new parts for the truck from the Canadian vendor. Not yet installed, these new parts come with the truck. Examples include a complete exhaust system, front bumper, front seat covers, brake calipers, rotors, pads, and drums, windshield weather stripping, tie rod ends, water pump, thermostat, weather-stripping for the doors and the hard top, tub to hard top seals, differential rebuild kits, knuckle rebuild kits, fuel filter assembly, drive belt, cooling system hoses, clutch slave and master cylinder, rear axle bearing kits, front wheel bearing kits, and check this out … a complete brand new Belton Suspension Kit.[/FONT]
• [FONT=&quot]Other New Parts.[/FONT][FONT=&quot] You also get the new uninstalled parts I purchased and delivered to the guy when I dropped off the truck. These include an original new OEM AM/FM radio with speaker bracket (very rare), skid plate, a completely refurbished swing away spare tire carrier, a new OEM took kit for a 1982 BJ-42 with owners manual, spare air filter, spare fuel filter, glow plugs, and a partially restored radiator blind.[/FONT]
• [FONT=&quot]New Tires. [/FONT][FONT=&quot]ALSO, you get 5 brand new (stickers still on them) Michelin X-Radial L/T tires (cost new about $700) plus a great spare on a wheel. Of course the tires on the truck now are in good shape too.[/FONT]
• [FONT=&quot]Repair Manual.[/FONT][FONT=&quot] Finally, what would this truck be without an original (try to find it online) Toyota Land Cruiser Repair Manual (Chassis and Body) for this BJ-series truck. These are kind of hard to find and expensive.[/FONT]
• [FONT=&quot]What About Rust. [/FONT][FONT=&quot]The back half of the truck is thick new steel and it has surface rust over much of it. The body panel below the driver’s door needs a little metal work, perhaps a little behind the two front seats where the new panels attach. [/FONT]
• [FONT=&quot]Options.[/FONT][FONT=&quot] The truck being torn down as it is provides restoration options not otherwise available. Within those options, you can make sure it gets done correctly. You could, for example, go completely OEM (except for the suspension) as I was doing. Or you could decide steel is too heavy, take off the new back end and put on a fiberglass tub and drop in a small block 350. If you are a professional 4-wheeler or Toyota aficionado, you might even choose to part out the truck just to make money – but don’t’ tell me if you do!!! [/FONT][FONT=&quot]
