Used a refurbed oem radiator with my admittedly different SBC setup but had a similar issue. Straightened out a coat hanger and re-bent it to the desired shape. Next stop was a well-stocked NAPA with a patient counter guy. Problem solved. Dealt with slightly different outlet size at one end with a well-tightened clamp. Never any issues in 50,000 miles.
Cheap and efficient. Don’t overthink this.

Getting caught up in here, glad to see progress even if some is the one step fw 2 steps back…if it was easy everyone would have an LS pig…🍻

More “whack-a-mole”! Or maybe whack myself in the forehead.
The style of radiator with the upper inlet on the driver side is going to require another level of plumbing that I wasn’t anticipating.
Tried hacking up a stock 2003 Chevy Silverado upper radiator hose to see if I could make something work. It *could* work, but I don’t like it and wouldn’t trust it for any long term use. The best route seems to be directly over the top of the fan (above a hypothetical shroud) as opposed to snaked over the radiator tank. I think what I’m going do is make a hard pipe that ties into a 90° section of hose on the radiator and a 45° section of hose on the water pump. WHACK-MISS!!!

So after hitting that wall, I turned to continuing progress on the intake pipe and MAF sensor.
It now appears that the design I had roughed out for an air filter box isn’t going to work. There is so little space between the MAF sensor and the box that the original area in mind for the outlet out of the box won’t mesh with the angle of the intake. So that original box idea is probably out the window. May just have one of those conical filters hanging off in space until Plan-C manifests itself.
WHACK-MISS!!!

Two thoughts:
  1. Will a passenger side inlet radiator work?
  2. Snorkel time baybee!!!

Rush, I wondered why you went with a rad. with the inlet over there, any reason? Also, how about a diesel sixty filter housing, I think that's what I use.

Ron, did you cut a hole (not calling you an a-hole) for the inlet?

Rush,

My JD Speaker lights almost sit flush with the back of the headlight bucket. I remember the bucket had to modified to fit the lights in, but they don't stick out the back.
I kinda like it when they stick out in the back a little...

@xtiaan2000 is using the same radiator.
I think the bigger points with it, is its design is based on an FJ55 radiator with all the same mounting and factory shroud mounting, and
they intended for it to be used with an electric fan setup.
Some of the other radiators people have used for this application are more of a universal fit which require mounting brackets to be made and don’t have integrated shroud mounting points. I’m not sure if anyone is running a custom Ron Davis radiator or something like that. I don’t have part numbers or links to any other radiator.

I think a (good) radiator shop can move your inlet to da other side.

Might effectively reduce the amount of heat transfer though, depending on how the passes are arranged. You might have to move both the inlet and the outlet to keep the cooling the same but, again, that all depends on the internals.
