Finished all the new flooring downstairs on Saturday, so turned my sights on the Cruiser to get something done for the rest of the three day weekend.
Decided to shift gears and go to work on the interior. Put in a bunch of time, but could only manage to strip and primer the cargo area and floor under the back seat.
Seems like most people are able to do the whole interior floor in a day - no way I could. I was laying down the second coat of primer in the dark.

Thought I’d throw pics of these troublesome sections (like Pablo did on the Javelina). Used the little sandblasting bucket to strip them out.

Looks really nice. As bad as the exterior is on my pig, I could almost live with the interior in the rear. Of course I'm sure I won't when the time comes as I need to replace the floor pans. They are not in great shape.

Currently debating on laying down some Lizard Skin heat insulation on the main floorboard🤔
Never be easier...if I had a do-over I'd do Lizard Skin rather than the rubber/foil stuff I used. Also think about the inside of the door and cargo panels as well as tailgate and inside firewall. One of the better tasks I did that significantly reduced noise and heat levels and that tinny sound when closing the doors.
Nice progress!

Thanks G. Been a long time coming getting rid of that red Rustoleum paint that I, for some long forgotten reason, applied to the cargo floor.

I'm thinking about using that on the underside.......but then again, I think about a lot of things.

Equal opportunity idea thief - I stole that from Craig @fj55tlc 😁
Take an idea from one source, that’s stealing. Borrowing from many sources is research. We do research around here.

i see what the problem is, your paying attention to the details and doing it right.

as for the lizard skin spray,,, i'll assume your talking about the sound dampener, just in case you dont know the product isnt durable, so you'll still need to cover the floor with something, be it truck bed liner or a carpet/vinyl kit.

Thinking about heat control in the footwell. It’ll be covered in the SEM bed liner.

I keep going back to our conversation about the manufacturer’s recommended thickness of .050” being enough to knock down the heat. Of course, I do still have a fair amount of ceramic spheres that I could maybe mix in with the 2K primer. Thought about trying to mix it in with the bed liner, not sure how to achieve that though.
The Lizard Skin seems pretty simple and straightforward and haven’t heard many complaints.

i also think if i was in your position i'd spray the engine side of the firewall and tunnel. if i ever have to take the engine out of my rig thats on the to do list before it goes back in.

I have a complaint for you. The lizard skin pulled away from the primer where I had extreme heat from the muffler. If you are going to use it, I would still put heat shields on the exhaust. Especially where you might get hot spots. The thing about the heat shields is, they work better than the lizard skin does. So it almost begs the questions if the lizard skin is even worth it.
