What did you do different this time?
Lots of stuff. I basically went back to how I was doing it in 2021 when I painted the ceiling, dash, cowl, and inner firewall.
Used the right reducer (#58), used the gravity feed gun with the 1.5mm tip at around 30 psi. Didn’t use the pot because I didn’t want to take any chances contaminating the paint with moisture.

End of weekend progress report -

Smoothed on the roof paint with some 600 grit and then shot a second coat. Really pleased with how it’s looking now. Hard to get any kind of pics that show what it actually looks like - it’s white and has very little texture.
The best technique I could come up with to minimize overspray and dry spray was to go around and stripe coat the drip rails, vertical sides, and then about 12 inches in towards the middle. Did this all the way around before getting back onto the scaffold and spraying side to side to within about 6 - 8 inches of the edges. This way, there’s only two areas of overspray that run lengthwise on each side of the roof.
At this stage and at this time of year, once again it feels like a race against time, so now I have lists of what could possibly get prepped together and what can get painted together in order to make the best use of time and material. My new pet peeve is pouring unused paint in the trash can, only to later realize I could have used it to paint these other little pieces that just needed a little prep work and paint.

Tried like hell to get the cargo area bed lined, but ran out of time this evening, so that will be next.

Was going to spray bed liner today and then came across a couple issues that I had overlooked. Those notorious crevasses on either side of the rear seat floorboard. I decided I want the liner to come down to the lower floor from the wheel arch and the door side, but not around the transition from the seat floor to the lower floorpan (if that makes any sense). Decided the best way to clean all surfaces was to sandblast it with the little siphon feed. Also decided that if I was going to mix up primer, I should do some other stuff too, so spent a couple hours prepping the outer firewall, engine side engine mounts and transmission mount.

I hate that spot on the outside of the seats! I sandblasted and then epoxy primered and then painted and then linexed. If I ever have to come back there it will be horrible!

I’ll tell you what!, your looking sexy!

Yeah, those spots are to clean out, wait until you try to clean the bedliner.
Hopefully it won’t be too bad since I’m limiting the bed liner to just the cargo area.

I am particularly fond of that pic from the front with no front clip or fenders.
I’ll be more fond of it when that LS is snuggled back in between those frame rails!
