My little red 4WD indicator light just started to flash this AM, and the manual says , on page 8, "if this light flashes, see four-wheel drive system" on page 120, section1-7.
Fine...i go to the section, read the WHOLE thing three times, and it does not say anything about ANY flashing lights.
What does this mean?
Thanks

Have you tried shifting the transfer case to see if the light resets? (you don't have to be moving to do this)

DEWFPO

figured it out. My locking diff button was pressed in. Funny the manual makes no mention of this.

The locking diff indicator is completely different from the 4wd indicator. Glad you discovered the problem. Page 121 of the Owner's Manual very briefly covers the center locking differential and pages 132-134 cover the rear locking differential.

The manual also makes no mention of what the button is for that has a picture of a vehicle, with what looks like a speaker sound coming from the roof inside? Thought it was something for dome lights..... Don't have a clue. The manual could have been quite a bit better.

That button with the speaker looking waves coming from it is for the internal security sensor. You can leave the windows open and if anyone sticks their hand in the vehicle, it will activate the alarm. The button gives you the abilty to shut the sensor off. You may do this if you lock the FJ with a child or pet in it but want the alarm protection. The description is in the alarm manual but nothing much in the standard owners manual.

ALRIGHT!! Thanks for clearing that up. Now I can lock my wife in the car when I go into the convenience store without it going off lol
