Just picked up a 2004 LC. I'm having a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with.

The flashers are on without the key in the ignition. The problem started last night when the 'door open' light on the dash went on. Checked all doors and tailgate, but all were closed. I didn't give much thought to it until I went out this morning to find the flashers were on!

Checked the fuses...non were bad.

Disconnected the battery, but when I reconnected, the flashers went back on.

When I start the vehicle, the flashers go off, but the door open sight on the dash is still on. When I turn the truck off, the steering wheel adjusts up, then back down as if it senses a key in the ignition.

Can anybody guide me to a solution?

Here's a pic of the rig!

I found this from another forum. Don't know if it applies here, but thought I'd post it to see if anyone has a response.

hazard switch --> Instrument panel cluster --> Under hood electrical center -->Rear electrical center. That's the ''path'' of the signals to turn the hazard ON.

When you ground the hazard switch, it's send a signal. The ground wire is behind the cluster. So, logically, it should be a defective switch or the wire that goes to the switch is cut or shaffed and ground before it goes to the hazard switch, but that pretty unusual for a car that is pretty young! When the hazard light come on, without your request, if you disconnect the switch and
the lights goes OFF, then it's the swtich, if not........

The flashers went off for about 10min last night while I was trying to figure it out. I don't know why or how, but they did. What I did notice is the door ajar light on the dash was still on, but very, very dim. My thought is that the door ajar light is causing the hazards to flash as some kind of safety mechanism. I checked all doors thinking that the door sensor was triggered...that didn't help.

Anybody have anything? My fear is that I'll be chasing an electrical issue...

You're already doing that :D

Did the previous owner have an aftermarket alarm system on your truck that was subsequently removed?

Sounds like the wiring to your door open switch(es) and/or flashers may have been damaged.

Thanks for the reply. No aftermarket alarm system on the truck, but I do think it has something to do with the anti-theft system the way the flashers were going.

The good news is that this afternoon, for no explained reason, the flashers went off. Knock on wood, they haven't come back on. Now I'm still left with the door ajar light on. The only thing I can think of is that one of the door switches has a faulty ground or is flat out bad.

Here we go...
