For all of you gifted cruiser owners that own a 40, or 60 for that matter and a new FJCruiser I have a question. I test drove an FJCruiser over the weekend in the evening and was impressed by the headlights. I've always driven older vehicles, so the old lights are a far cry from todays technology.

I got to wondering if the headlight assemblies on an FJ were the same size as the 7 inch sealed beams of the 40's, 55's and 60's, or if they are more like 7.5 or 8 inches.

The second part of this question is how involved the entire assembly is, and if one can be grafted into a 40, 55, 60 grill.

Anyone, anyone???? May be a crazy idea or dream, and maybe there are better alternatives and or cheaper ones. What would these assemblies cost new????

Any ideas or comments on this, could be a fun mod.

I guess to go along with this, are the bj42 headlights alot brighter than the fj42's. Just wondering because the lights in both my BJ42 and BJ70 are super duper bright. Both are 24V

I have an H4 Headlight Coversion with PIAA headlights and the are really bright. The only thing brighter that I have seen are HID's.

I would speculate that the FJ Crusier lights are HID and that kit would run around $1000-$2000

IPF housings, and PIAA bulbs make a huge difference by themselves. Add in a relay harness and things brighten up even more. All in all the conversion on my Fj40 cost about $200, but I can really see where I am going now. There are other companies out there for the housings and bulbs. Hella and CIBE make housings, and I have heard that motorcycle headlights use an H4 bulb and have the best pattern. DO your research as alot of the aftermarket housings run into D.O.T. approval issues, which coulg cause issues while having a rig inspected.
