I am getting some 17"x7.5 fjc alloys as a spare wheeling set for my '97 LX450. Is anyone running 35x12.5x17 KM2's on these and do you have any issues? Also, I have the shank style lugs for my stock rims, is it the same for the fjc rims or are they conical?

Thanks,
Derrick

FJC's use "acorn" style lug nuts and the wheels are "hub centric" if that helps.

Are you asking about fitment issues with that size on the FJC or on the wheel? Tire installers may be reluctant to install that size tire on the stock rims due to the BFG recommendations of rim width of 8.5". The FJC wheels should fit on your 80 since they have very similar wheel specs (backspacing).

The issue will be finding someone to install them. Once installed, they should be fine, said without direct experience...

From what I've read, the 80 rim is 1/4" different than the FJC rim, regarding the backspacing - close enough for me although I am getting spacers because of that combined with the 1/2" narrower rim. Regarding issues, yes I read that BFG recommends a 8.5" rim for a 35x12.5 tire. I've seen a rig in the 80s section running these rims with a 37 x 13.5 but I wanted to ask over here because I expected to get more opinions. What is the most common size tire that most of you wheel with? 33 or 35?

I would say that the greatest percentage upgrade to a 285/70 or 285/75 depending if they are running 17 or 16's respectively.

Running 35's take either a 10.50 like I run or spacers and some modifications, all of this depends on the wheel one chooses. It also requires modification to the front body mount (aka, the body mount chop) to run even some 285's depending on the tire's profile.

The FJC isn't as tire upgrade friendly as an 80, it can be done, just takes a bit more forethought...
