I've driven by this one and it looks pretty clean. Haven't heard it run. That would be the 3FE. Not as peppy as te 1fze but still a solid design..

Stopped and looked in/under/under the hood. Didn't bother to drive it or fire it up just cuz it was hot out and I was in a hurry. Very clean overall, and surprisingly "stockish" and unmolested looking for its age. Noticed a couple possible areas of concern, but definitely has the potential to be a very good deal for someone looking to get into an 80 series.

Anyway, if anyone not familiar with 91-92's is interested in it, I'd be happy to check it out with them and point out all the things to look for. Heck, maybe I'll even just go check it out more thoroughly for myself; unless it has some major issue(s), that really is a ridiculously low price...

Cheers,

Curtis

I looked at this one. It's actually in pretty nice shape. Lot of miles though (250k). I didn't drive it, but it might be worth checking out.

There's a 94 or 95 up the street at the car lot near the mall (across from Toyota). I looked at that one too since I was in the area.

STAY AWAY!

Seriously, it's puking oil up around the spark plug cover, and through some of the hoses there. The engine block is pretty well stained up from oil leaks.

Not only that but they want over $10k for it. "Only" 140k (ish) miles though.

When I mentioned head gasket he started off with the "well we just sell them and we've had a safety inspection done so we know it's a good vehicle....."

Started that 92 today, seems to run alright. I think it needs a tune up. Didn't actually drive it, I was just checking to see if it ran. Seems pretty clean, there are some remnants of off roading but it didn't look like there were any rock scratches. I just gave it a quick one over. The drivers seet is pretty well used, lol.

hey, that sounds like my 80 with 100k less!

Sorry thought you were talking about the 95, I wasn't arguing with you I just stopped by for a minute to see if it even ran. Thats all I was saying.

Yup, the main problem with the interior was the driver's seat. Everything else inside looked pretty good. Only other thing that caught my eye in there was that the t-case shifter knob was very worn; can't imagine what that means...

Under the rig: Oil weep at the rear main seal, not a big deal for that age/miles. More problematic is a definite front pinion leak. Believe it or not, I actually didn't notice whether the birf's/inner axle seals were leaking.

Under the hood: Surprisingly clean (power washed, of course) and "mostly" unmolested, again for its age. Areas of concern:

1) Radiator overflow empty, and radiator itself about 1/2 inch low. I would NEVER let this happen on one of my rigs, and it's enough of a concern that I personally would not buy this rig without first performing a cylinder leakdown test. (I can't believe they didn't top it off as part of the pre-sale primping...)

2) Radiator is an aftermarket made in China piece of crap.

3) All hoses (or at least clamps) to the water pump have been replaced (evidenced by the non-OEM clamps), leading to the conclusion that the water pump has been replaced. No problem there necessarily, except that the replacement probably ain't OEM.

4) A/C connnections have been converted from the original r12 to r134a. Again not *necessarily* a bad thing, but unless the conversion was done properly (replace o-rings, etc.) which is doubtful, just causes more problems down the road.

BUT: I looked pretty close, and that's all I could find. Body is good; rims, tires, frame is clean/good, and that price is *so* cheap! I told my wife about it, and she actually wants me to go back and drive it. Heck, I could probably just cannibalize enough parts off it to make it worth it. :hillbilly:

Regardless, my offer to check it out with/for anyone else still stands; I'm not the snipin' type.

'Night all,

Curtis

And you've had how many 'cruisers that don't run? ;p

I think you misquoted Kief (he was replying to my comment on the '95). Maybe he needs to learn how to use the [QUOTE][/QUOTE] tags. ;)

And maybe we need some [JOKE][/JOKE] tags. :hmm:
