fj62's weird clicking sound -- need help!

I finished replacing the oil pan gasket on my 88 fj62, filled it w/ oil, and it ran fine this morning, no leaking oil, no odd sounds. Life was good.

But now, after the truck has been sitting for a couple of hours, I'm getting this weird almost plastic-sounding clicking out of the engine compartment. All the belts are in place and tight w/ no visible wear, the radiator fan has no play and isn't hitting anything, but it's a distinctly plasticky clicking sound that increases as the idle goes up or and slows down as the idle goes down. Coming from the engine. I'm hearing it in park, drive, reverse, etc. Never had this before. The back seat heater fan makes this sort of sound sometimes, but this is a lot louder and coming from the engine compartment.

Any ideas on what to look at first? I'm assuming/hoping this isn't related to the oil pan job at all, but I'm open to any suggestions. Did I somehow screw up the valves w/ the oil change?

Thanks!

Definitely. I've checked it about 10x, too.

The sound is coming out the engine block, for sure... could running a (slightly) lighter oil somehow cause a valve spring problem? I'm stumped here...
