So i was planning on picking up a FJ62 either today or tomorrow but on my way home today from work i had to stop by a clients and upon leaving there i come across a 95' FZJ80 for sale. 70K less miles, arb front bumper, PIAA lights mounted and looks great....now my woes....its the same price as the FJ62 i was going to pick-up and now i am kinda torn. THe 80 has third row seating, 62 doesn't, the 62 has style the 80 doesn't, the 80 has way less miles and a more powerful engine then the 62, the 62 has the OME and thumping bass the 80 doesn't...well i could go on and on but you get the picture. I mentioned the 80 to my wife and from her stand point she would be happier and think it would be a better purchase then the 62.

And before any of you say it...i already tried to say why not both...."FAT CHANCE" where her words i believe.

I called and talked to the 62 owner and he was cool that i needed to think about it and understood completely the i need to make the wife happy as well. Pretty cool move on his part.

What would ya'll do?

The 80 does sound like a better deal, but not nearly as cool styling wise.

i'll be driving it mostly....yea that stereo on the 62 is good and all but i am in my 30's and bass doesn't appeal to me. Kinda dumb to crank it up on talk radio. I would like to eventually make the 80 or 62 for that matter a more trail ready rig. The 80 already has the arb and piaa lights but the 62 has the ome.

The intended use of the truck is going to be a DD. She will however drive it every once and awhile.

personally I would buy the 62. I have been close to buying an 80 lately and once I let it pass I realized I am not interested in them. 6x series and 40s (and of course import models) are the only cruisers that I have a fetish for.

But, I wouldn't have mentioned the 80 at home. Now I think you have to buy the 80. By the way, can I come work for you so my family can live in Big Sur?

good luck either way.

OK..both the 80 and the 62 are $5k ...now can i get a better deal on a 62 that decked out or can i get a bette deal on a 80 that deck out? n How often do ya'll come across sweet deals like these?

If there is nothing wrong with the 80, buy it quick. For a dd is is a way better truck overall. The 62 is a fine ride, but it will need more repairs since it's systems are that much older. The 80 is cheaper to lift, has a much better ride, better seats, and is a better off-roader in near stock form than an FJ62. Any way to buy both? You can't have too many Land Cruisers.

Cruiserdew...man i wish i could get both...this FZJ80 would be my 7th in the last 2 years. The most i had in my driveway at one time were 3 FJ60's...with one in the garage and the wife just about killed me. Lots of nights on the couch and i don't plan on doing that again.

I think i may get the 80...

Without knowing anything more than what is contained in your posts, it sounds like the 80 is a distinctly better buy and is probably better suited to your intended use.

p.s.

The seller of the 62 is being very gratious, if you previously struck a deal with him.

Buy the 80,,,, what if the sellers are members of Ih8mud and they see what your posting?
