I have a customer who owns a 88 fj62 the radio was stolen dash was all busted up etc. Is there a set of brckets needed or do i just buy a aftermarket install kit and what do i mount it to?

Yes there are brackets that hold the radio in. They are $12 new from dealer.
If it is the same as my 85 60.... a 1DIN than you can use a universal mount. I put a clarion 7" DVD in mine and it has a fabricated a bracket for the back mounting point.
Just in case your customer want a 05 Scion head unit, I will send it to you for shipping and a beer.
