So I have the old intermittent starting gremlin that many have in their 62s. I installed a reman'd OEM starter and it was good for a bit. It came back shortly after. I'll either wait and it will eventually start up or it will start if I bang on the starter. I took it to the mechanic and he cleaned some connections and it was good for a bit then came back. I just noticed that the signal wire is frayed. Does anyone know a part number for this? Kyle at Toyota South Atlanta is awesome but can't seem to find it. Thanks

It's just a female spade connector.
Clean it up & maybe bend the spade contacts down a wee bit so they make better contact. You'll be good to go.

Thanks for the reply. The wire itself is frayed. I just want to make sure that I'm using the correct wire if I replace it.

If repairing this wire does not cure the intermittent starting issue install a relay between this wire and the starter and that will likely fix it.

What he said. They ignition key switch is a weak link in the starting system, and a cause of many starter related problems. It uses small diameter wire to trigger the starter, and after 25+ years there can be lots of contact and resistance issues.

Use a Ford type starter relay - cheap and dead reliable. Just use the stock starter wire to trigger the relay, and run 10g wire from a power source to the relay, and from relay to starter.
