FJ62 rear window defrost

My switch only works intermittently. When the orange light comes on, the rear defrost is happening. Most of the time, it doesn't light up, and no defrost. Could it be so simple as a bum switch? That wouldn't be so bad.

Could be the switch, could be a wire on the back side that is loose, or something else too...

I would remove the switch and check the connection, and then ohm the switch with a meter...

Going to guess that it's the wire(s) that have fatigued from opening and closing the top of the tailgate leading from the roof through the rubber flex hose to the top of the tail gate. Not hard to splice a good piece to replace. Just be gentile pealing the headliner back. It's a job.
