Ok, this is a weird question...has anyone heard of a 1990 FJ62 that came with leather interior?

Reason i ask is that i just got off the phone with a owner of a 90' 62 and they are the original owner and he bought it brand new WITH leather interior. I asked him if they had it put in aftermarket and he said no he bought it with it. It was dealer installed. Is this something rare?

Not sure about the availability for that year, but most vehicles can have "dealer installed" leather put in (for whatever reason you see this a lot in late 90's Troopers). There's a company (maybe several) that make the skins and sell to dealers.

owner sure its a 62 and not an 80? Bother were made in '90. I have heard of similar to what ATL said for various vehicles as well.

OT Triva.

Some '80 series were produced in '90 but they were all (in the US anyway) sold as '91 model year. No 1990 FJ80s

Also... Check your vin plate if you have a '62 titled as a '90. You'll probably see a 1989 build date. I've never found an FJ62 with a 1990 build date.

Mark...

So mine came from the factory with leather, but that doesn't help answer your question since mine's non-US (see picture, it was the only one I had that showed the leather).

I don't believe *any* 60 series were available with leather from the factory, note the SUPER loaded JDM HJ61s like Wagonner5's that came with every possible option (even shag carpet!) but no leather. If that's really an FJ62, then the leather must have been dealer-installed.

nice, what do the trim panels look like (doors and rear)

You can kind of see it on there, the insert (fabric on US-spec 60's) is leather matching the seats, the rest is the same (vynil above and below the leather, then carpet at the very bottom).

Cargo area panels are all vynil, tailgate trim is all carpet with vynil piping.

It might be rare, but it is not factory. I'd rather have a clean factory interior than an aftermarket leather interior.

Ok, folks is a NON-USA FJ62....the leather interior is on the door panels as well as the seats. And according to Exile the NON-USA model came with the leather on the panels on the doors but not in the rear cargo area.

I searched toyota's catalog and found there were no leather seat for 60 series Land cruiser. (USA and Non-USA)
So I think that was installed by dealer.

Oh, Min Seok

I seriously doubt it's a non-USA FJ62, it's more likely to be a dealer-installed or simply aftermarket leather trim. Is there anything else identifying it as non-USA? Any trim badge, or quirky interior features? What about the paint?

I'm sure there's a handful of others, but I only know of another non-US FJ62 besides mine and that's one that surfaced in South Florida about 8 years ago and was being parted out. Mine's originally from Venezuela (assembled there from knock-down kits) and there's features in it (from Local Content laws) not found on any other Land Cruiser spec.

Get us some pictures so we can take a look at it, or simply check the VIN#, that's the easiest way to know.
