fj62 clutch problem

Hi all im paul from the uk just purchased an fj62 with 100,000 k on the clock good condition for only £500 yeah i know wat a bargain.Only problem is the bite on the clutch is high and its slipping in 4th gear does this mean i need a new clutch or is there something i can do.
Also the batterys seem to drain fast wene ive not fired her up for a while it takes about a week to drain em both..please help......ps does anyone have an owners manual or repair manual for the fj62 1989 to download cheers all

Try doing a search under the key words such as"cltch slipping","clutch adjustment", "alternator" and "battery drain". I think you will find alot of problems similar to yours and may different solutions. Is your LC diesel?

All the US 62's are automatic transmissions. Only the 60's had a clutch. If you're slipping gears it's a pretty good sign you need a new clutch. Do the rear main when you're in there as well.

I suppose your FJ62 has same clutch system with my FJ62.
It's also same system with late US FJ60.
First, try to adjust clutch pedal height. It's very easy job.
I think because of high clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder had beel pressed a little and it caused fast wear of clutch disc.
Height of clutch pedal is important.
