My 88 has been running its best now for years and after all the rain we sissy Californian's just got, Im plagued with some new gremlins.
Sometimes starts right up and idles beautifully. Start it up again after being parked for a day or even just an hour and 1 of 2 things happen:
1 - Turn key and it just sputters and kicks and fights staying running - I can get through this by constaintly hitting the gas until it works itself out...like 60 seconds. Then runs great. Engine light follows and turns off for a minute then turns off for a minute and repeats as it continues to drive like a dream.
2- Turn key and the damn thing idles through the roof and eventually calms the hell down but fights getting there for about 2 minutes. Then drives like a dream all day. Engine light flashing continues as in episode 1 above.
2B - Yesterday episode 2 happened with an insane hissing/air leaking noise from the cargo area while idling through the roof. Seemed to be from the driverside rear near the vents.
Fun huh...I search for similar issues and nada. I drove it over 75 miles the other day to work and back without any issues other than the engine light flashing at me. Let me know if you guys have anything for me. Ill be checking the diagnostic box this weekend when I have some time.
