I am in the process of trying to replace the belt for my a/c unit. I am unclear as to how to get to the belt tensioner nut. From what I can tell, the nut is positioned right below the mounting bracket for the power steering pump. Getting to the nut appears to be very difficult. It appears that you cannot get to it from the top. Also, from the front, side and back appear be almost impossible. Perhaps I am missing something or there is an easier way to get this done. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

That nut is not supposed to be touched. You change the tension by first loosening the pulley itself, just crack it loose, don't take it off. Then on your back under the truck. Look up and you will see the bolt head. Get your longest extension. Turing the bolt to the right loosens the pulley, left tightens it.

It's not exactly a fix.
It's a temporary thing so you can drive it.
Even then, if you don't care about AC at all, it could be considered permanent.
Cut the belt off and throw it away? Cutting it off is by far the quickest.

If you ever want air conditioner again, now you will need to fix the original problem and put a belt on it. The price of a belt will be dirt cheap compared to fixing the AC.

Some cars were never equipped with AC. Removing the AC belt only disables the AC on that car. It sounded like your AC is already broken and probably wouldn't work if you wanted it to, so you may as well remove the belt so it is disabled....

If you are certain the AC is causing your complaint.
Did the pulley lock up or something and smoke the belt?
