Sorry, I searched but couldn't find any discussion on this...

Who has "tuned" 60 rear springs to run on a 40(front and rear)? What leaves did you remove if any? Flip military wrap leaf and redrill spring pack? I'm sure everyone has done it differently, just looking for some info to point me in the right direction.

I'll be running the springs flipped to get the longest wheelbase possible. Rig is already SOA and shackles reversed. Will be primarily trail use with minimal weekend cruises on the highway or to/from trails. Looking for MAX flex, lowest ride height, so will be mostly droop.

Finally came across a pair of 60 rears and 2nd to shortest leaf is cracked @ centerpin on one of the packs so hoping I can run them without that leaf. Seems like one I would leave in if it weren't busted?
Anyone ever run just main and mil wrap leaf?

Thanks.

The longer leaves give support but less spring rate than the shorter leaves do. Start out with the lower leaves pulled, that will probably be sufficient. Honestly, the 60 is not that much heavier than a 40 is. You probably don;t have much tweaking to do before the spring rate is less than you want.

I have taken mine apart so many times, I don't even know what's stock and what's not. I know I took out the 2 shortest leafs to start with and then added the shortest one back then I added a 40 leaf to the pack and removed what was the 3rd leaf. I did not flip the military wrap.
I'm currently running 60 rear springs flipped in the rear with 7" shackles in the stock mounts and 40 rear springs flipped in the front on 6" shackles with with the front shackle mount moved back ~2". Leaves me with a 22" frame height on 37" Pitbull Rockers, so it is pretty low over all. The shackles are about 40° so they are flat with about 5" up travel and 7" down in the front and more than that in the rear.
6" rear shackles and stock 60 springs

I apparently don't have any pictures of the front springs or of the springs after I started swapping leafs. Taking the short leafs out made for flatter springs so the 7" shackles were used to regain height.
If you have the stock 40 springs you will have lots of options to make a custom spring pack as the leafs are slightly different lengths than the 60 springs.

Perfect, this is exactly the type of info I'm after. I do have the stock springs to play with so I should have some options.

Jstncse - do you have a pic from the side to show general ride height. Sounds like your setup is pretty much spot on what I'm after. Any flex pics?

Thanks
