I am new to the site, and still don't have a treasured landcruiser, but i had a question, I am looking to purchase a Fj60 in the near future as my daily driver, go anywhere vehicle...my primary vehicle any problems. issue i should know about, and anyone looking to get rid of one?

Any questions, I'm sure Brian (84yota4x4) would be up for answering them. If he's not too busy packing for school...

When you say "daily driver", what kind of miles / day are you talking about?

Do you get a gas allowance from your job? ;)

60's are always up for sale here on MUD and usually aren't bad deals, though you might have to travel a little. Locally they are pretty hard to come by in the paper or craigslist.

As for problems and issues with them, the back half of the inner frame rail is what goes bad on the frames. It is located from about the fuel door back on the inside of the frame. (can post pics if need be)

Check and see if the nuckles on the axles are damp or have any fluid on them. If they do then your most likely going to need to rebuild the front axle which will be a couple hundred in parts. (That's for absolutely everything)

Generally if it runs and drives smooth, doesn't smoke, and looks clean then you should be ok. Feel free to ask any questions that you have.

thanks for the input guys, so far, you've provided me w/ pretty useful information. Unfortunately no gas allowance, my daily commute back and forth is about 20 miles more or less probably more like 25 miles. But I believe i'm willing to pay the cost, to be driving a capable rig/workhorse. I do some minor property management repair type work on the side, and since I just honestly think the FJ60 look so cool, i'm willing to sacrifice alittle, its just me and wife for now...does it look doable...? Honestly its doesn't get cooler than a fj60...I gotta alot to learn about these vehicles but I know what i like you know what i mean...thanks Brian for the info and reaching out, i will probably be contacting you in the near to not distance future....

Yeah just let me know if you need anything, though I'll only be here in NC until August 9th and then I go back to school in GA.

If you even wanted to take a look at my cruiser and see where the rust spots are (mine is showing all the rust) and just to get familar with looking at a 60, just let me know.

Brian

ralphlo there was a one-owner FJ62 in the Raleigh News & Observer this weekend, IIRC the price was $7300. I can get the phone number if you want it, or if you can't find it online.
