This doesn't mean he sold it for that but here's one recently listed for $1,450

Thanks for the comp. Im glad I asked, I never would’ve guessed. If anyone interested let me know. I’ll be listing it soon

If you're going to sell it put an ad in Classifieds with a price where this type of posting belongs.

I remember rebuilding my FJ60 power steering pump many years ago, there were kits available that included all the seals. Searched just now and it looks like they're still available - I see a kit on Parts Geek for about $14.00. No idea of quality, but there it is. Other retailers have 'em for up to $50 or so...

The bushing in the front gets chewed up and there isn’t a part to replace it is the problem. You could contact a machinist, or make one of you have a lathe, but the seal kit alone usually isn’t enough.

Is that the only part that would be needed to rebuild them? Wouldn't be too hard to arrange a group buy to have a shop turn some bushings.

There's a rebuild thread from some years ago (don't have time to search) where the guy sourced an off-the-shelf oilite bushing that has to be honed to the diameter of the pump shaft (any bushing will need this). Other than that, the reseal kits are complete.

It can definitely be done, but I don’t know how many end users want to take their pump to the local machine shop to have the bushing pressed in and out. Us here talking about it would (or already own a press). The average Joe usually wants an off the shelf solution.

It's not something that can just be driven in/out with a hammer and a bushing driver?

BZ Rebuilders in Canoga Park, who rebuilds the FJ60 smog pumps, also rebuilds these PS pumps. I asked about replacing that bushing during a rebuild and Mr. BZ said they can do it, 'if necessary' ...

If somebody wants to hunt for that thread where the bushing is replaced and honed (I asked for it be in the FAQ but it wasn't added) it's a very complete and the definitive write up. Quick search and I can't find it. It very clearly shows how he did it. Hope the pix are still there....

JB Weld & sand the inner diameter of the bushing?

Figure this’ll be a good spot to ask this question. Has anyone done any digging into converting to an electric power steering pump? I’ve got many friends running them in various race applications, a couple more running them in street vehicles (RX7’s) and they seem really nice. Obviously a higher amperage alt is going to be required for those not already running one.
