There was no overflow tank on the 71 model year, Dan. They started with the 75s. So anything will work. Even an old antifreeze jug, which was what came on my '71.

Well, Butch you should see how I'm working the throttle. Hood removed, windshield too. standing up and reaching into the engine bay to give it some more gas!! It takes some getting used to. I think the neighbors are getting used to it too.

The other problem with the string is that I dont have a pedal to hook it up to. Maybe one string for giving it gas and another for letting off the gas?

That would be something, Working manual steering. Clutch, Brake, Shifter, and two strings.

I have a pedal assembly and most of the parts on the way. Just waiting for one more through the mail.

Hopefully this weekend I will steal a few hours to hook it all up.

I have a spare smaller cap, okay condition.. Whats an Address to send it to, dont worry about $$. I might have the floats but dont quote me.

Warren.

2F wanted for 83 FJ60

I am looking for a 2F for my 83 FJ60. In or around WV. Let me know.
Thanks, Todd

Dan, the ones off an early 80's minitruck looks almost identical to the 77+ cruiser overflow bottle. You also get a windshield washer bottle and pump for free. Only the brackets are different. About $12 at PnP.

Look around at PnP, you'd be surprised how much stuff off other Toyotas are similar or identical to the cruiser's.

Here's a tip for setting up a stock looking overflow tank in your 71 FJ40. Go buy a used FJ60 overflow tank bracket (it's been discontinued from the dealer), and either a used or new FJ60 overflow tank and cap/hose. You'll need to drill a mounting hole on the passenger side of the radiator mount in order to mount the tank bracket. Positioning is important, as if you mount it too low, then it will hit the headlight. Too high, and it could interfer with the hood closing. Then, after you get it mounted, all you need to do is trim the hose to length.

I've done this on both of my 71 FJ40s and it works great, and looks almost like it orginally came that way (at least to those who don't know). Also, the FJ60 tank/hose/bracket is a lot sturdier than most of the aftermarket tanks I've seen. This setup won't work on my 72 FJ40, since the 72 has brace rods attached to the side of the radiator mount on both sides.

Dumb newbie question, but would a 68 FJ 40 pinion flange be what you need? If so I have one of the rear axle.

i think they still had the square flange...is the flange square or round?

I don't believe there was ever round course spline pinion flange. You have 63-69; 69-74;74-78 with 10 spline, those had different square flanges and or different bolt pattern. The 78-~83-84 is square with 27 spline, the ~83-84 up are round with 2 differnt bolt patterns.

I need a course spline flange with bolt pattern of 68.5x66.. never stock that I'm aware of.. anyone have a blank aftermarket?

Ige, i've got a a few course flanges in the garage.. what bolt pattern or year do you need?

They were stock on some FJ55's... my 1973 FJ55 had a stock round flange on the front diff, and it was coarse spline.

They can be found new too, there is a joint Fuji part number for them, but I dont know it off the top of my head. Jess at high angle driveline sourced one for my friend.
