Do any of you 60 owners have any experience with the cat. conv. going bad? I just had an interesting talk with a prospective buyer of my 1984 60 who was trying to beat me up on my price saying the reason the truck was slow was due to the cat being partially plugged. I tried to explain to him about the heavy curb weight, the 210,000 miles, etc. but it got me to thinking...

Figured I'd ask you all for your .02 worth.

Thanks, bob :)

yOU COULD POSSIBLY REMOVE THIS QUESTION BY INSTALLING A BRAND NEW MONOLITHIC CONVERTER @ ABOUT $89, THEN THE NEW OWNER WILL EVEN BE ABLE TO PASS A SMOG TEST (FOR AWHILE).

I seriously doubt that you have a plugged cat. If you did, it would stink and glow red hot. Many vehicles with plugged cats catch fire form the heat. FJ60 Land Cruisers use a pellet style; bigger and heavier, but I don't think clogging is something they ever do.

Thanks for the replies. I figured if it was a common problem, there would be more talk about it here. I don't think it's plugged either. I thought about removing it all together as we have no emmissions testing in Wyoming however, I think I'll leave it alone for now.

thanks, bob :)
