x2 - I want a Troopy or LV sooo bad. Restore the Troopy and if the engine in the Troopy is toast drop in the diesel from the 41/42. Use the 41/42 for whatever other parts you need. If you don't have much left of the 41/42 when you are finished with the Troopy then sell or s**** the 41/42. If there is plenty left then you have another project!
I'm on it, Troopy first after I've put my Hilux back on the road that is
Wise words

My boss lives in Devon, not far from Exeter.

I might also need some SOR bits (good idea to share shipping, getting hard to get mortages in the UK ;))

malcb /hiluxonian,

i have occasion to be that way to visit friends around xmas so would love to hook up and see what you got.i think the 45 i restored a few years ago ended up down that neck of the woods.
i have sor club membership (-10%) which expires end of dec so will be looking to order a batch of parts around then. let me know if that is any good to you guys.there are also a few parts i want from ccot in the new year but as they dont ship here i will be arranging my own courier.again if this is of interest to you let me know.

nb. did either of you see the bj that just sold on ebay for a shade under 5k?

Oh no! a muddy truck and a boat ramp doesn't look too good mate. did you catch any fish in the glove box?

Interesting. Have another look and post up here, if indeed the plates say FJ41 then that would be damn cool. I thought only the BJ's and HJ's incremented the model numbers in later years. I did find some info on an FJ42 being a 2WD version of the 40-series, I think there was one on this forum at one time, but I couldn't find anything on an FJ41.
Sorry my mistake it's a BJ41 the other an FJ45 RV

Edit can't see a thing anyway numbers FJ45 Rv KCQ - FJ45 307962 & K BJ41V KCY - BJ41 013083

The trans/axle codes are the same for both vehicles H41 - k082 does that mean the diff gearing is the same?

I'm sure money permitting I'll have a list together soon havn't found out what SOR means/is sure I will in time

I was following that truck on ebay nice price I'll get my spanners ;)

K082 is the "normal" diff for this part of the world. Ratio is 4.11 details here TLC FAQ - 9.1 Axle Codes

H41 is the "normal" (EDIT: again, for non US applications) gearbox, 1st, 2nd & 3rd are all lower, 1st by quite a bit according to the chart, 4.925:1 as opposed to 3.555:1 hadn't realized it was that different, add in the low ratio and it's really quite a big difference. 4th is the same 1:1
TLC FAQ - 8.1 Transmission & transfer Case Ratios (All :1)

I don't know the specifics but am sure the H41 on the diesel as a different input shaft compared to the H41 on the petrol, transfer cases are the same.

Links go to CuiserFAQ, see top of this page.

EDIT: - Can't see but is the rear axle on the FJ45 full floater, nice if it is.

EDIT: - Looks like the FJ45 was Australian (Q at the end) so that should be a full floater, BJ41 was Japanese market. Should be a second plate this the years and engine numbers perhaps?
