Needing help with some wheel / tire combinations. Blame it on the Relic Run, but I plan to retire my boring white wagon wheels and return to the old school look - gray wheels, hubcaps, skinny tires, etc

I have 5 wheels off a 1971 '40 that are 16.5 x 6.5. Everything I read references the elusive 15 inch wheels, or 16 - but never 16.5. Not sure the origins of these wheels, but they have the tabs and look like ones I've seen before.

I'm not a purist so I'm fine with the larger wheels, but any ideas if they are even Toyota wheels. Second, any suggestions on a tall, skinny tire combo?

Edit: will add a 2" OME lift too

Edit 2: looks like most tire manufacturers are discontinuing 16.5 tires. Also, other forums talk Aboit issues when aired down since there is not internal safety bead to keep the bead in place.

With no lift i presume a 30 x 9.5 looks great. Not sure if its avail in a 16.

Also did you mean 16" dia instead of 16.5"?

Links no good or your album is private btw

@FJinTegaCay should be able to shed some light on this one.

I run 7.50/16 on two of my 43's but it is a pain to find them in the states.

I'm running 33x9.50s, which are NLA, on stock steelies with no lift and it rubs on rare occasions. You'll want/need some kind of lift to run 33x10.50s safely.

If you want to freshen up the wheels to look stock before mounting the tires, I'd be glad to tell you what I did for the LV that looked good.

Thanks- fixed the pictures. It measures 16.5 from outside diameter (if that's how they are measured).

The bead lip may be throwing you off or i may be presuming wrong.

Id bet you have 16" wagon wheels. This would be confirmed by tire size rim indication.

Just wanted to clarify or prevent confusion between 16s a common size and 16.5" which does exist but much more common for military vehicles and tire selection and quality is lower.

It's a 16" rim. The rim diameter is measured at the bead seat, not at the outer lip like you pictured.

Those are gonna clean up awesome and really will look good!

I've been using @elkaholic's tire guy in fort mill and am really happy with them. Previously used @Roxx's guy at hook tire but they moved and I wanted a closer option, both solid choices, if u go the CL route for tires and need to dismount/mount/balance etc.

I hastily wire wheeled and rattle canned my steelies, happy with color and durability, but wish I had sanded them also to make them a bit smoother, once the gloss of the paint is on there the imprefections and texture will be more apparent.
