Hello,

I left my '78 40 stored in 4WD for the last few years, the transfer case shifter can shift from H4 to Neutral to L4 just fine, but I can't get it to H2, won't budge in that direction at all. Can anyone enlighten me on any tricks or tips that might help?

Thanks!

penetrant oil on the fork that's sticking out of the pass side front of the tcase. It has an "accordian" looking boot on a round shaft. With a notch cut into the shaft where the 4wd lever goes in. Spray that area behind the boot/under the boot.. Let it soak a day. put case in neutral and use a smallish brass type hammer and you can tap the rod back into the case going back into 2wd. tap the shaft backwards towards the back of the truck and it'll free up the front driveshaft.

Bingo! I Sili-Kroiled the hell out of it, waited as long as it took for me to crawl out from under and it works fine.

Thanks Erik, much appreciated.

Been there done that! Glad it worked, so now your going to come out of hiding?

Sort of...Just renewed my TLCA membership and couldn't find how to do that with TAC, but I'm sure you will guide me in the right direction.

Installed Classic Cruisers seat bracket extension kit yesterday and although 2 inches doesn't sound like much, it feels great, circulation below the knees has returned.

OME next. Working out a deal with Tim for the parts and I may have ChuxTrux install them as they are an official ARB installer. I have been penetrating oiling the pins/bushings now for several years.
