Folks, I am moving to HI and need a small truck. Having owned a 2007 FJ, I am looking for one and while doing so came across a fully restored FJ40....Knowing nothing about this truck, I need to know more ASAP!

I also need a little help with pricing.......it is a 72 with an 82 motor. Truck has been completely restored with ALOT of nice touches......see it here.

Can you offer some help in knowing the 'value' of this? I know ultimately its all up to me what a truck like this is worth, but I am needing to get a clue as to what its really worth.......

thanks

Being its on the island... rust, rust, rust would be my first concern, nice paint hides alot... do some searches about rust and fj40's ohh and he is a little high on the price..

That truck was built by a Mud member - Loren Holmberg and it was in Washington I believe until recently. I almost bought it but it fooled around too long. It's breath green color is cool and he did a lot of work to it. I'd negotiate a little since it's on the Big Island and has a limited audience without shipping to the mainland. 18K would be the number I recall wanting to pay for it. I'm guessing it's very nice. Loren seemed like a very meticulous person when it came to building this. This link should help - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/long-time-restofication.607312/

Of course since your moving to HI you may want to save your money for a surfboard and some pakalolo. I'm green with envy!

Sorry I dropped off the thread we are trying to get our trip finished, (6500 miles so far), and the last week has been crazy and I neglected this.

OVERTON you are correct, the seller, Josh is from WA and the truck was redone (from what I read and see), with great care. He seems like a straight shooter. I have asked for:

More pics, particularly of the engine bay and undercarriage, and for further informtion about any outstanding trouble....and any lingering rust. The truck looks nearly new.......Josh did say that he was showing it this past weekend and perhaps he sold it because I have not received any photos........best I will do is contact him when we get there.
