Hey all,

Absolutely no affiliation but I remember seeing this homage to J. Ward's icon series for sale at least (?) twice in the last 18-24 months. Originally on sale in...Georgia?

Wondering if the Mud mind knows anything about the original build and/or owner.

I recall thinking that it looks as though it was well executed but am surprised to see it for sale 2 (or 3?) times in such a short period. Makes me wonder if something is going on with it.

Thanks for your collective thoughts.

Wow. Somebody really went out ot their way to make it look like the ICON. I think its overpriced though. I wouldn't pay that much for it.

very nice looking rig. i refurbished a 1978 fj40 from bottom up. its like new, all toyota parts though. cost me almost $40g plus 18months of headache. this one looks like it would cost you every bit of $38g to have done. if you want a quality redone rig your going to pay. or get one loved, well maintained for 1/3 of that and put $ into it regularly to keep it going (breaks, suspension, t-case, steering etc.) pay me now or pay me later

Ahem...bezel.

Looks nice and I imagine that Mudrak would be a good source of info on this rig, since the seller says he worked on it.

This is the kind of rig that the Dakota instrument cluster should be in.

He very well could have $40 into it. You can find just as nice rigs half of what he is asking. When you dump that kind of money into a rig like that you don't always get it back. Also while I'm not a purist I like a more stock 40. It's barely still a 40.

$40K??? The eBay listing says he has $65K!!! into (cough...bu11sh*t...cough) it. Not to rain on your parade super40, but there is NO way that rig is worth $38K. Now did someone overpay from day one? Maybe? But $38K and no hardtop? Not an ICON and far from the pristine original that can draw the big bucks occasionally.

I hope the seller gets the $38K, just makes my rig worth more when I die!
