Need some feedback regarding leaking fuel pump.

Here are the events:
1 cranked and moved truck a very short distance
2 left there for 2 hours
3 dad came over and told me there was a pool of gas under
4 verified leaking out of bottom of fuel pump
5 moved truck in garage
6 tighted Phillip screws on top
7 drove for 30 min
8 parked and verified no more leaks

Any concern or does this sound like the fuel pump just needed tightened?

I will monitor, but would like to know if this fuel pump needs to be replaced.

I don't think that is normal. Assuming the fuel pump for your 40 is cheap enough, I'd say look into replacing it as a preventative measure.

I would replace it if i were you. It is better to spend $150 in a pump than loose the 40 in a fire. At least that was what i did when mine started leaking like that.

Yep, replacement needed. I think it's like the water pump and will weep though the weep hole once that gasket starts to go. If I remember correctly, one from JT Outfitters was relatively cheap (Asin)...

I had the same thought about the weep hole. I'm going to keep a close eye on it while part is on order. It hasn't leaked since tightening but I agree a $150 (that is dealer price) is worth preventing fire. I just debated the idea of the tightening fix the issue and it doesn't need to be replaced but now going with it needs to be replaced. It visually looks pretty old as well.

Installed new one. I'm still not sure there was an issue with the old one.

If anyone wants the old one which is OEM for rebuild or any thing else let me know. Price is free. Here is a pic.
