My Stickel in tow too.

Steve makes some kick a$$ bikes. I've worked with him on a couple of projects, but don't have one of his frames. His designs inspired a 29er frame of my design, but I'm thinking of changing it to 650b which might be dumb since I'm 6'4" and still riding a 26er.

There are 4 other Stickel owners within 4 miles of my house. Strange, right?

Leave the 650s to the endurobruhs....... (my wife loves her 650 Santa Cruz 5010.)

@QuarterPint - I've looked at some different ideas for the rear also. I think I will buy a normal hitch mount rack for rear hauling - I'm really liking the ISI rack! It'll be req'd when I take the kids or friends to the trailhead with the Yota, or if I need to transport the Evans-Colston 26" cruiser (far right).... for an annual Tweed Ride or pub ride.

I can tote my whip easily during the summer, in the back of the rig with the fork over the cooler edge - but that only works with top off and leaves trail left overs in the cab. I've got the pieces coming together for the front bumper mount.... Not sure about a brace yet.

The retracting vertical mount idea is nice also.

Tweed ride....... probably a lot of safety meeting going on with that ride.

You know what they say; safety is no accident.

And we have a finished Yakima front bumper mount !

Turned out nice.

How'd you end up with Crossmax wheels on that bike? They weren't stock, right?

No, a local beer-man - Chris Winn - hooked me up when I bought the Whip from him, 2nd hand. He's a huge mtb supporter and part owner of Tradesman Brewing Co on James Isl in Charleston. They were built for this bike, so..... I kinda needed to buy them.... at least that is what I told the :princess:. I've also got the stock heavies for backups...

So, I've been toying with this idea for carrying my Mtbike on my FRONT bumper...

Need a fork clamp (would weld a small bracket to bumper then bolt bracket), a section of tire channel and a heavy duty cinch strap for the rear wheel.... Similar to a roof mount, just turned 90* and .... Thoughts?
I don't think it's a good idea, don't you think it's kind of dangerous?

When I was a kid my Pop had a front mounted rack on his truck he'd put 4 bikes on for trips. Never an accident. Never considered that an accident could be caused.

I guess I could worry the bike may somehow come off the bumper and I'd run over it?

Yet I guess a front mount probably could be dangerous........... for some users.

I see your point, but : Considering I AM LESS LIKELY TO RUN INTO SOMEONE in front of me.... I thought my whip would be safer up front. It is super sturdy with the fork mount. I'm ALWAYS CHECKING MY REARVIEW MIRROR just waiting for someone to rear end me.. texting while driving. I feel better in control of where I point the bike - on the trail or on the bumper...

YEPPERS ! My BIGGEST FEAR is that I would roll over a RR track, or some bad ass pot hole, and then watch as my bike wiggled loose, smacked the hood & grill before flipping forward and under...... If it ever happens, I'm gonna have to clean up vomit from in the cab too. It'll make me sick for sure.

The seat is in the middle of my field of view..... but while I drive to the trail head, I use it like a cross hair and make machine gun noises while I blow up cars that come into the 'seat' crosshairs... My :princess: suggested I remove the seat while driving.... but all I heard her say was I should buy a dropper seat post. :flipoff2:

Well, that's great. May be some day I should go and have a try:D
