I am looking for a frame support kit to mount the FJ80/105 power steering box to my 1978 FJ40 frame.

I already have the FJ80/105 steering box so the Iron Pig kit has more than I need. The other kits are for the Saginaw steering mod.

Is this what you are wanting? I have them in stock and ready to ship. $55 shipped

We also make billet 40/80 conversion drag links and have column parts.

I already have the DOM tubing but may need a longer one if bends are needed to get the relay rod more parallel with the tie rod. With my high steering arms and my steering box the pitman arm puts the attachment points out of line.

Is there just one plate with the tubing welded to it and not one on each side?

I will need to shim the steering box away from the frame for clearance because the radiator had to be moved closer to the mechanical fan on my R2.8. Does that plate go on the outside or inside the frame?

bending your drag link won’t change the geometry. You’d just be bending a piece of metal. You would need to change to a different pitman arm or taller/shorter steering arms to change the geometry.
What pitman arm do you have?

This part goes inside the frame from the engine side. If you plate the outside of the frame the original shock mount no longer works. Some care about that, some don’t
I could certainly make you some shims at whatever thickness you wanted but you would need to change to different shock towers

Where can I get a shorter pitman arm for a FJ105 sector shaft?
I am not changing the high steer.

The stock shock towers are removed and have a pair of F250/350 shock towers.
If you can provide an outer plate to go along with the inner plate with the tubing I am interested in a price.

1/4" is what I am thinking and will also shim the shock towers.

Yeah I can make that for you. PM me or email the shop and I can get you taken care of

105 box? Nothing available off the shelf. Your best bet would be to bend the 105 pitman arm.
You should have just used a standard 80 box in which case you’d have a plethora of pitman arm selection. And you’d never hurt the 80 sector shaft on 40.

This is why it’s a good idea to actually plan your project from the beginning instead of buying a bunch of high end parts up front. Those great parts might not actually play that nice together.

The box is a FJ80 but the sector shaft is a FJ105.

I am not an expert on modifying a FJ40 and I have done my research but with any search you have to know what questions to ask. I live in a fairly isolated area and the Land Cruiser community is very small. The pitman arm I have is very stout and may not bend well.

I build the axles first so that I could get them back under the rig and on the tires. I don't have a lift and I work alone. I am doing the best I can and advise is not free.

I will send you a PM in the morning.

105 shaft in a 80 box is the same thing as a 105 box.. I sell a few of both options semi regularly :)

And yes, bending that pitman arm would not be something most hobbyists would be able to do themselves, you’d want to take it to a metal shop with a pretty decent sized press brake

Like I said I am in a remote area of central Wyoming and don't have a strong industrial infrastructure.

I was a Millwright/Welder and have worked in heavy industry for about 40 years and grasp the concepts.

I am doing the best I can with what I have to plan and workout issues with this build and still do my full time job as a Field Engineer for GE working on turbines and generators. Because of that background I am able to tackle this project.
