Thanks Jim.

I do want to put a tire carrier on the back. I may snag that one. Let me wait and see what Marks carrier is all about.

I have my original stock carrier stashed in the attic since I built my bumper a while back.
Let me know if it would help.

I do think I would prefer a stocker.

I dont play to carry a highlift jerry cans. And I do want the tire offset and not in the middle, The only thing that sucks is it seems like the stock carrier mounts for the 72 puts the tire on the pass side.....

Mine was mounted to the drivers side ('78). Not saying that is the way it was suppose to be but it is how I recieved it.
I'll dig it out and snap a pic.

It seems like that is where they are all mounted. But I could swear that my mounting holes are on the pass side.

I wish it was on the drivers side.

Also the "4wheeldrive" badge clearly was originally on the drivers side as was the license plate.... I may be SOL. or Ill fab something.

*random thought* ....I need stock rims....

My "4 wheeldrive" badge is on the pass side.
Maybe yours was orginally a RH drive. HA! Damn, once again, where is Tony.

My carrier does mount on the pass. side. Been looking for a pic of it while it was on the truck but have had no luck. Will try to dig it out and get a pic for you.

Also don't know if you all have heard but a wall colapsed at the Attica hotel over the weekend. It was a filler story in our local paper today. They had 4" of rain Sat.and an outside wall of the hotel fell away from the building, the hotel is still open except for the one damaged wing.

The tire carrier changed from passenger side to driver side in like 1975 or so. The older 'solid' tire carrier mounts to the passenger side and the newer tubular one to the driver side. The TOYOTA and 4WD emblems were always mounted on the opposite side from the tire carrier, so they moved from the driver side to the passenger side when the carrier moved the other way. This is true for USA and I think also Canadian spec trucks. Some other markets where vehicles were built RHD were different.

John, if you want to be stock, you'll need the older 'solid' carrier. It looks like this:

Early tire carrier

Bingo! That is the carrier I have. Mine is complete and in great shape, the only differance is the black part in the e-bay pics is red on mine. The hook that mounts to the body on mine is wore some but the rattle this coused was fixed with a rubber spacer between the mount and body. Mine did have a 33x9.5 mounted on it with no problems, anything wider would require some type of spacer to move the tire farther from the body.

Thanks!

Got some Freeborn red today. Though its not 309, as i thought/think i need. Its 269 or something.... maybe its the right stuff. Now i just need to lay it down where it needs to be and not disturb the patina and make it blend. But wanting it to look like s*** frees me of any pressure.

Actually its 265.

According to this link;

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...u8nqCw&usg=AFQjCNHmC5mgtjJGvVPJMeX4j0i5sUQQgg

That appears to be the factory code for a 2 tone freeborn red/white. So i should be good....assuming the freeborn used is the same as the non 2 tone. It looks different based on some 265 that was 7 or 8 years dried on the side of a can at todds shop....... looks darker with less orange, than my 40 year old abused paint...... ehh...

Carrier is yours, will get it to you in Aug. if that is soon enough. If anyone is close to here before then let me know and we can work out something.

If only I knew someone, anyone in the state of IN who wheeled anymore..... August is fine.

Once I saw that pic, Todd said he has one in the shop, but it was molested by a student to carry other crap as well. If it is salvageable I may use that. But I'm thinking no.

Thanks! Whats yer beer/liqour?

No carrier, but 4 stock disk rims if you need them.

Hmmm. What might you want for those?
