Can someone help me out...where's the "official" tentative schedule? Maybe @hecrod can update the first post with all up to date info?

Patrick

I don't know that there are any hard dates yet. The fatalist in me says that as soon as there are, people will disappear like prospects in a group buy.

I remain committed to participating in a north-south western leg in the second half of October. If my boss doesn't like it, I'll just quit my job. He always takes me back anyways.

This is an ambitious undertaking and no hard fast dates will work. We get the participants lined up and follow along. Only when the baton gets close do we start planning our leg of the journey. It's not a race, it's an adventure. I hope my schedule works for this because it looks awesome. Be flexible, if it takes us a year it takes us a year. Thanks for thinking this up.

No doubt about that my friend. As I said in my preamble to my 'Party of One' story, even when our trucks are on jack stands, they feed our spirit of adventure and provide the hope to keep us moving through the mediocre parts of life.

Plan on.

Below is where we were last Friday. Just about everyone has confirmed routes and dates, with some potential changes around Kentucky. The most significant change is that we will attempt to reverse the TN to FL leg, to go FL to TN, which would then allow us to continue West towards the Pacific.

There's a realistic path to do this... I will update the schedule tomorrow late PM.

1st Leg - Maine to Key West
  1. Saturday October 8th - @vt0u812 (Central Vermont), @JohnnyC (Upstate New York), and @hecrod (Boston) meet in Portland Maine to kick off the Expedition!
  2. Sunday October 9th - @hecrod (Boston) hands off baton to @Cruiser_Nerd (CT) during Yankee Toys Fall Gathering in Southern NH
  3. Saturday October 15th - @woytovich collects the baton from @Cruiser_Nerd in CT.
  4. Sunday October 16th - @woytovich leads the Long Island entourage  (@woytovich, would you take the Lead in coordinating the Long Island Leg?) into NYC (specific location TBD). @brian collects the baton. @wizjim25 and @awynne56 can also travel here from the Jersey Coast. @RolandFJ40 and @shmukster... we will have to figure out a way to loop you into this weekend. Let me know of your preference.
  5. Saturday October 22nd - @Shark56 collects the baton from @brian in Northern Maryland.
  6. Sunday October 23rd - @Booch and @iptman collect the baton from @Shark56 in Southern Virginia (Norfolk?) or Northern NC.
  7. The baton continues South into Charleston SC during the week (I assume @Booch will do this?). It would be great to loop in @David1947 at some point in this section of the Leg.
  8. Saturday October 29th - @Booch meets @ErikinSC, @77wagon and @CharlestonG8R in Charleston SC. @Booch can of course, if needed, leave the baton with @CharlestonG8R at anytime during the week.
  9. Sunday October 30th - @CharlestonG8R (and others?) heads towards St. Augustine Florida to meet @sggoat, @Captn Conch and @mel lowe. @sggoat and @Captn Conch are coming South from Atlanta, where they have collected the "Michigan baton".
  10. @sggoat and @Captn Conch determine final timing down to Key West.

2nd Leg - Michigan to Key West
  1. Weekend of October 8th - @olive gives us a tour of MI, IN and parts of OH??? :D:D:D
  2. Saturday October 15th - @Speeter collects the baton from @olive , maybe somewhere near Columbus?
  3. Sunday October 16th - @Speeter hands the baton to @Bluegrass40 near Louisville KY. It'd be great to loop in @mtnbiker4evr13 at some point here...
  4. Saturday October 22nd - @Bluegrass40 hands the baton to @Tennessee80 near Nashville.
  5. Sunday October 23rd - @Tennessee80 hands the baton to @Cleg near Knoxville, TN
  6. Saturday October 29th - @Cleg hands the baton to @GA Architect and @Chris8760 near Atlanta. @Sig191144 maybe you can meet the folks near Atlanta as well?
  7. Sunday October 30th - @GA Architect and @Chris8760 hand the baton to @sggoat and @Captn Conch somewhere in Southern GA. These guys head South towards St. Augustine FL to meet @CharlestonG8R.
  8. @sggoat and @Captn Conch determine final timing down to Key West.

This part should change to:

  1. Sunday October 9th - @hecrod (Boston) hands off baton to @Cruiser_Nerd (CT) during Yankee Toys Fall Gathering in Southern NH and probably hands it off to @ordoman for transport back to Long Island
  2. Saturday October 15th - @woytovich leads the Long Island entourage
  3. Sunday October 16th - @brian collects the baton.

at this point i need to know whom and where the starting point is, so as i get the "baton" headed that way.

shmukster is actually more north and slightly more to the east of me.
so a hand off from northern nj or southern ny to him, to me, may work better for him?

i'm thinking secondary legs, being like tributaries to a river, have a log book of their own, that they can add stickers to pages, business cards and what not to.
these secondaries can meet with the main baton, and be added to the contents of the brief case.

@brian I thought we agreed that I/we (the Long Island crew) would hand off to you on Sunday the 16th at a location TBD...

I have options to get the baton to NJ if you cannot make it in to Manhattan/Times Square.

Can you get to NJ sometime on or after Sunday the 16th?

Edit for the first leg....

6. Sunday October 23rd - @iptman and fellow CLCC members collect the baton from @Shark56 in the DC area and deliver it to @Booch in the Charlottesville/Skyline Drive area.

my mistake, i thought the times square thing was off the table....tho i really like it.
yes i'm still on for the 16th...regardless of location.
not sure where gary stands with this.

When we get closer to the TX/NM/AZ leg(s) I may have two FJ40s, driven by me and by my wife or younger son. I probably won't have the second FJ40 ready until November or later.

@65swb45 - we may have to plan on a late spring leg and the question is do we have to reverse routes and go south-north? I'm definitely in however the route I want to do is closed from November to May.

Sounds great, I will get with you as our turn comes into reality. Any of the suggested routes sound cool to me..
