Hi guys. I'm working in my fj40 build and I think I'm going to need a body lift to clear my new trany and transfer case. I have being looking for body lift pics but had no luck.
can anybody post pics of their BL from the back and the front the fenders, as much pics as you can

thanks:bounce::bounce2::steer:

PlatypusREX - I don't think he wants a shackle lift, but a body lift.
Toroz06, I have never heard of one....good luck in your search. Maybe there is another way to do it, like cut the floor out more and make or modify the tranny hump to fit?

you are right I'm not looking for suspension lift. I have plans on that too, but first I have to make room for the body. I would really prefer not to cut, to keep the body looking as original as posible :D

I have a one inch on mine but no pictures sorry I'm out of town

do not worry I have time, you can post pics when you get back:lol:.

Nice looking 40, is the spacer for the front grill UHMW as well?
how did you work the fenders?

I think my is a bit easier because a have saginaw power steering :hillbilly:

These are the rigs I have. The red FJ40 has a 1" body lift, 4" lift springs (SUA), and lift shackles which amounts to a 5" lift. 35" tires and 15x10 wheels

The yellow 40 has a SOA lift with stock springs on 37's (15x12 wheels.

So the red 40 sits a couple inches lower than the SOA 40. I just sold the Yellow fj40 on ebay. Think the buyer is picking it up on Wednesday.

The front spacer is UHMW wrapped with sheet metal painted black. The fenders and frame were drilled and tech screwed.

LRChops, any reflections on one vs another if you were to lift another one in terms of performance, time requirements, costs, ease of use as a daily driver, etc.? Thanks, Taro

I like the SOA but to do it right is expensive unless you do your own work. SOA puts more pressure on the rear end when wheeling up hills and there is a risk of axle wrap. Higher center of gravity which does not bother me.

The SUA seems more stable and is far less expensive. I like SUA with tall springs and shackles reversed up front. Handles better than the SOA for a daily driver.

I have both and I am keeping the LC with SUA. I run 35's with the 4" springs, 1" body lift, and tall shackles. Seems to work out fine, although it does not look as COOL as the SOA. SOA by far better for rock crawling and clearance issues.

SOA with the right springs should work out.

why not just modify the tranny hump?

If you have to modify the tranny hump the heater is probably in the way too. My sm465 was anyway, also if he is going with a v8 the body lift might also help with cooling. Installing a body lift is easier than all the cutting it takes to avoid one. I had to modify the hump and cut the floor vents out of the heater because I didn't want a body lift. Not a big deal though with a 350 up against the floor cold feet is not a problem.
