this 1977 fj40 landcruiser has been built from the ground up with no expenses spared. I will try and list all the things that have been done over the years to this vehicle but the pictures will tell the rest. A friend of mine started this restoration back in the late 80's - early 90's. During this time it was taken down to the frame and everything put back was new.
the engine is a stroked 454 big block chevy which makes it a 468 cubic inch. It was built by auto sports center, a well known and respected speed shop here in little rock, arkansas. It was balanced and blueprinted, all new engine internals including cam and roller rockers, 850 holly, weiman intake, msd ignition, custom headers, lots of chrome. It runs and sounds even meaner than it looks!
the transmission is a turbo 400 automatic with a shift kit and was new at time of restoration. It runs out and shifts as it should.
the body has absolutely zero rust. It has been stored inside since the late 80's so it has not had the elements working against it like most other fj40 landcruisers have. The rear tail lights have been frenched into the rear quarter panels. The rear bumper has been molded to the curve of the body. Interior of the body has been lined with bed liner. Under the body was painted same color as exterior. New body mounts throughout. The engine doesn't require the cowl hood but it sure makes it stand out from the rest. The paint job from back in the early 90's was not the best so i recently completely disassembled all the body parts and had them painted by a local paint shop. They have a really nice downdraft booth and did an excellent job. Upon reassembly i used all new gaskets and rubber pieces. This makes is what really separates a top notch restoration from the ones that obviously used the tape off method where you see overspray over all the rubber seals.
drive train has been totally gone through including both front and back axles along with the original transfer case. Advance adapters mates the turbo 400 transmission to the stock 4 speed transfer case. Front and back disk brakes with willwood porportioning valve for rear disk brake conversion. Axle housings and drive-shafts are chrome. Differentials painted to match exterior. Spring over axle conversion. Saginaw power steering conversion. Tripple front rancho 5000 shocks in the front with singles in the back.
interior has new front bucket seats along with matching rear bench seat. Seat belts are new in both front and rear as well. Dash pads have been covered in matching black vinyl to match seats, including the red stitching! Dash has been smoothed to allow the fitment of the vdo gauges. The glove box was smoothed in the process and is not there anymore. Kind of would be nice to still have the glove box but not a big deal and it leaves space for someone to put something else in its place.
tires are brand new nitto mud grapplers size 38" x 15.5" x 15". They are mounted on actual mickey thompson alcoa aluminum 15x14 wheels. They do not make wheels like this anymore and the copies are no where near as strong and quality built as these are. I have another fj40 with the knock offs and you can tell the difference in quality between the two.
soft top is brand new and utilizes the newer style snapless system found on the newer jeeps.
overall this fj40 is one of the most unique ones i have owned and i have had quite a few. I am willing to accept a partial trade but no junk. Email me what you have and maybe we can make a deal. I can work with the buyer on getting the vehicle to anywhere in the united states or even overseas at the buyers expense. Let me know if you have any questions about the vehicle i didn't cover and i will be more than happy to answer them. Thanks for looking.
