This is a thread more than two years late but it has to start somewhere. Quick background: I have VERY little knowledge about cars and had never even considered a restoration project, let alone an FJ40. The first time I ever saw an FJ40 was in Phoenix while looking to buy an FJ80 for road trips...

I'd like to include mine. The VIN tag says 1964 but my CA title says it's a 1963.
It's a FHT but came with only a soft top so I'm looking for a corrugated top for it.

Are you running full time 4x4? ...looking at your front hubcaps.

Front axel is moving but not connected to transfer case ( so no power transfer )until FD button is engaged. FD button will connect transfer case to propeller shaft to front axel giving it power.
Cruisers came that way from Japan, locking hubs were added by dealers or owners to relieve wear and tear on front axel.
