I may or may not have started a restoration.. I received my first parts order.

I have a '64 fj40 that I plan on driving around more than working on. So far, so good.

Are you running full time 4x4? ...looking at your front hubcaps.
Front axel is moving but not connected to transfer case ( so no power transfer )until FD button is engaged. FD button will connect transfer case to propeller shaft to front axel giving it power.
Cruisers came that way from Japan, locking hubs were added by dealers or owners to relieve wear and tear on front axel.
