Hey,
I am thinking of buying a 30ft travel trailer, GVw of 6500lbs, what do you guys think. Thanks
I have been doing an exercise in the same thing. The towing limit is only part of the equation.

I found the following web site where you can get an accurate calculation.
http://www.klenger.net/arctic-fox/weight/index.html

You will need the following info for your truck. Some is found on the truck, in the users manual and on the net.

GVWR
Curb Weight
Payload
GCVWR (Truck + Trailer) This is on our Drivers SIde info sticker in the truck

On the trailer you are interested in you need:
GTWR
Dry Hitch Weight
Dry Axel Weight
Gross Dry Weight

The calculation will help you see how much of your Payload is used up by the tongue weight and how much of your towing capacity is used by the trailer. We have actually found some 7000# GVWR trailers are towable by our LX, provided we don't load them up with lots of extras and too much cargo.

I have also found that you should only tow up to 75% of your capacity to be completely safe.
