Wow!! I didn't even pay that for my '12 Trails Team brand new. Guess the last year model is bringing in the dough-ray-mi.
When I wrote the check for my new 2012 with off-road kit, 17" wheels and tow pkg, it was well under $30k, title and 8.4% state sales/use taxes included. Guess 2012 was a good year to buy and we made a fair investment: kbb has my 25k mile 'old' FJ priced out at $32k retail -- Woot!
2012 with Rack & Towing, from dealer: $31,960 (kbb, std deal price, as of today):
- add off-road: $32,088 (rear locker and Bilsteins)

- add preferred pkg and rock rails: $32,600 (17" wheels, cruise, dark glass, color matched interior trim, Wumpus, hands free)
- $34,007 if it's Dealer Certified
- $30,800 private retail - good condition
- $31,979 private retail - primo condition
If I recall, the off-road and preferred packages were about $1,500 each, new; but seem to add little at resale.
The off-road package, according to kbb, adds about $100 to a used 2012
-- the preferred pkg, really more a convenience pkg, about $600, or 50% of new cost.
