Hey guys and gals,
So I just bought a 1991 FJ 79 that was badly treated. I've done major work to the brake system. Replaced the front passenger side caliper completely. Rebuilt the driver side caliper. Replaced the rear drum pads and had the drums redone at a machine shop. I've replaced some of the brake lines and the master cylinder twice. All this in an effort to get some brakes. I did actually have them for a time but ended up with other problems.
I took it to a buddy and he adjusted the brake booster rod out all the way (yes I know this is a bad idea) which gave me brakes for a while but after time all the brakes would lock up completely. So I then looked at the manual and adjusted the booster rod back to where it is just touching the inside of master brake cylinder. I thought this would be the solution of all my problems but I'm back to no brakes. I can pump them up but it doesn't hold pressure.
Any ideas? I've spent over a 1k already and haven't solved the problem! Help!!!
