Finally pulled the trigger on an '89 FJ-62 a few weeks back.

Been searching off and on for three years.

I had been an avid snooper on this site all the while but did not really have anything to contribute for obvious reasons.

Just wanted to say thanks to one and all for this amazing site. I could not have pulled it off (and recognized a great deal on a rig when I saw it).

And now the real fun begins....

LOL!

I am ashamed to say I actually considered (just for a moment) changing the color:doh:...since the truck had been sitting for a while while the PO tried to sell it.

Once I had it detailed though, it was a very, very different story.

I am in Oceanside, and can't wait to get after the modding.

Thanks Mel. The red really grew on me, no way I'll change it. She'll stay Freeborn red.

The manager of the detail shop I took it to thought that the original paint was in pretty good shape and with some clay work and buffing the coat would really stand out.

Looks good, whats first on your list of mods?

Thanks.

I have done the obligatory tune up and fluid change, plus put in a new fan clutch and radiator. I also have one rust spot to take care of.

Currently thinking about a 4.7 or 5.7 engine and drivetrain swap or less restrictive exhaust (maybe MAF headers). Either way, looking for slightly more pep.
