While on highway, my 60's gauges unexpectedly will begin to go haywire- simultaneously the fuel gauge flies way left of "F" and the temp gauge jumps up to near red. After a few seconds (and skipped heart beats) it goes back down to normal. Is this an under the hood problem? Dual sensors? A short somewhere?

do a search. I am sure it has to do with a grounding problem somewhere in the dash that is an easy fix. I remember reading it here not too long ago.

It's a problem w/ the instrument voltage regulator, which is actually part of the fuel gage. There is a documented repair procedure here or on LCML for removing, disassembling, cleaning contacts. Usually that's what it needs.

and if the "fix" doesn't work.........buy a new volt meter it WILL cure the problem, cost $30, easy to replace.

I treid the "fix" it helped but did not fix it.....so new guage, no problem
