Fitting later model 1kzte head to earlier 1kzte

So far my head is good with 222Km on the engine... But I want to be prepared. In my research I've read that many people seem to think the later (post 2000) heads are better. I went on megazip and the part numbers are different (for a completed head), they are super close but still different.

Has anyone fitted a later style head on the earlier 1kzte? Does anyone know if it will bolt up ok? I know the valve covers are different but it appears the bolt pattern is the same...
