So I have been trying to get buddies and my BIL to join me on some of these endeavors lately but to no avail. Just been hitting the Truckee east of town mostly when i get the chance but putting out an open invitation to anyone that feels like joining.

Had some decent luck out there, was out at the Lockwood exit on Monday and landed two and hooked another.

First was a smaller brown on a black zebra midge, probably about 14" long or so but dropped in the water as I fumbled for the camera.

Second, don't know what it was but instantly took a flash back pheasant tail on the second cast after tying it on. Whatever it was fought hard and busted my 4x tippet pretty quickly. Doesn't help that I didn't realize how big it was and didnt play it right.

Last was a nice 14" or so Rainbow that took another flashback pheasant tail. Got a couple pics of that one, but still working on my photography skills for the fish.

A friend has been having stellar luck all over the Truckee and landed a 23" Rainbow (his personal best). He doesn't tell me where he fishes but he is damn good. Check out his blog catchsnaprelease.blogspot.com.

I am hoping to get out there again on Monday if anyone is interested (got to get permission from the boss first).

Get a polarized filter. Lets you take pics through the water without the glare.

Here you go!

Beautiful creatures!!

Nice job!! If we do deer valley again, you need to make that run and bring the fly gear!! You actually get tired to catching fish. They're all pretty small, but its fun!!

Nice fish. I think you should come along(probably all trails we do have fish) and we could have a fish fry. I love eating trout but have no skill at catching them.

BBNC annual fish fry July 2014 Deer Valley trail. You catchem I'll fry um.:clap::banana::beer:

LOL... that actually sounds like a lot of fun. Main priorities for BeBe this spring are axle rebuild and new tires (aside from the rust fixes that is). Will be getting the new 31x10.5x15 Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx when I get around to that part.

That's my family farm on the river in Lcokwood and the fishing has been improving over the last decade or so. Up to about 20 years ago the only thing swimming in that water were carp. In fact, the State is looking to build a fly fishing school near there using the old rest area. No cuthroat that high yet but the stockers that have washed down have had a long time to grow.

Ah very cool... I havent been that far down quite yet... went a couple hundred yards along the bank on the east side of the river but that is as far as I have gotten.

greg, my roommate and I want to catch tigers on Hobart...need some info on when its open and non res license prices

@KWalkerM Hobart doesn't open until may 28th I believe but will double check and believe that non-res day licenses are like $20ish with trout tag. NDOW website is pretty easy to navigate.

@CV Kurt nice looking fish there. Hoping to get out this coming weekend.

@KWalkerM just looked up the info and Hobart opens on May 1st!!! 1-day license is $18 with $10 for Trout tag or $69 for annual license + $10 trout tag.
